Meet Lucky Lou’s Affirmations
short, playful tools for little minds and feelings

The Lucky Lou Affirmations Voice
Lucky isn’t a tiny therapist. He’s a best furry buddy who happens to know some pretty great things about minds and feelings.
He is:
-
warm, playful, and encouraging
-
simple enough for little ones, but never babyish
-
occasionally silly
-
curious rather than preachy
-
reassuring without pretending everything is wonderful
-
always giving the child a little bit of power back
Most importantly, his affirmations aren’t just “I am amazing! I am amazing!”
We quietly sneak in real mind work: reframing, emotional regulation, confidence, resilience, imagination and self-compassion.
Lucky Lou doesn’t tell little ones how they should feel. He helps them discover what they can do with how they already feel.
That is very Zen 4 Little Ones.
How the sets grow with your child
-
Sets 1–10 establish the basics: I can cope, breathe, learn, try, ask for help, and be myself.
-
Sets 11–20 gently develop metacognition in kid language: I can question my thoughts, listen to feelings, set boundaries, choose my response, notice good things, and speak kindly to myself.
-
Sets 21–30 help little ones quietly build an inner compass — confidence, thoughts, choices, belonging, courage, and trust in themselves, while still being our ridiculous little doggos. OOPS, kiddos.
🐾 Which Lucky Do We Need Today?
Sometimes we need a little courage. Sometimes a little calm. Sometimes we just need to hear, “Hey, you can try again.” Choose the Lucky that feels right for today
PART ONE - I CAN
Days 1–10: coping, breathing, learning, trying, asking for help, and being yourself.

This one is for: When something feels difficult, frustrating or a little overwhelming and your child is tempted to give up. Lucky reminds them they don't have to do it perfectly or all at once, they can take their time and keep trying. Little mental muscle: Perseverance & confidence.

This one is for: When worry starts getting loud — before school, trying something new, going somewhere unfamiliar, or one of those “but what if...?” moments. Lucky helps children notice the worry without letting it make every decision.

This one is for: When feelings feel HUGE — sadness, anger, disappointment, frustration or overwhelm. Lucky reminds little ones that feelings are okay to have, and even really big feelings change and pass. Little mental muscle: Emotional regulation & acceptance.

This one is for: When your child gets upset because something isn't quite right, compares themselves with someone else, or feels they have to get everything perfect. Lucky gives them permission to learn, wobble and simply be themselves. Little mental muscle: Self-acceptance & flexibility.

This one is for: When your child needs a little confidence boost — learning something new, practicing a skill, doing schoolwork or wondering whether they're “good at” something. Lucky introduces the idea that the way we talk to ourselves matters. Little mental muscle: Growth mindset & positive self-talk.

This one is for: After a mistake, a flop, a wrong answer or something that simply didn't work. Instead of “I can't do it,” Lucky helps shift the thought toward “Okay... what can I try next?” Little mental muscle: Resilience & reframing.

This one is for: When your child is comparing themselves with others, feeling different, trying to fit in or wondering whether who they are is “enough.” Lucky reminds them that being themselves isn't something they need to fix. Little mental muscle: Identity, confidence & self-worth.

This one is for: When their body and mind are running a little too fast — excitement, frustration, nervousness, bedtime wiggles or after a busy day. Lucky helps them discover that they have simple ways to help their own body slow down.

This one is for: When your child is struggling but thinks being brave means handling everything alone. Lucky reminds them that asking a trusted person for help is something strong people do too. Little mental muscle: Help-seeking, connection & healthy courage.

This one is for: Mornings, new beginnings, after a difficult yesterday — or simply when your child could use a little curiosity about the day ahead. Lucky doesn't promise that everything will be wonderful; he reminds them that we don't know yet what today might hold. Little mental muscle: Optimism, curiosity & cognitive flexibility.
PART TWO - I CAN NOTICE
Days 11–20: thoughts, feelings, needs, boundaries, choices, and self-talk.

This one is for: When your child's mind has already decided how something is going to turn out — “Nobody will play with me,” “I'm going to mess up,” “It's going to be terrible.” Lucky helps them pause and wonder whether that's the only possible story. Little mental muscle: Reframing thoughts & flexible thinking.

This one is for: When your child is being much harder on themselves than they would ever be on someone they love — especially after a mistake, disappointment or embarrassing moment. Lucky reminds them they deserve the same kindness they'd give a friend. Little mental muscle: Self-compassion & healthy self-talk.

This one is for: When something feels so BIG that your child doesn't know where to begin — homework, cleaning up, learning a new skill, joining an activity or facing something they're nervous about. Lucky shrinks the challenge down to just one little next step. Little mental muscle: Breaking down overwhelm, perseverance & confidence.

This one is for: When your child knows they're upset, uncomfortable, frustrated or sad but isn't quite sure why. Lucky introduces the idea that feelings aren't “bad” things to get rid of — sometimes they're little messengers worth listening to. Little mental muscle: Emotional awareness & understanding needs.

This one is for: A disappointing day, a grumpy mood, a boring wait — or anytime things aren't going quite the way your child hoped. Lucky turns noticing something good into a tiny treasure hunt without pretending the not-so-good stuff isn't there. Little mental muscle: Attention shifting, gratitude & balanced thinking.

This one is for: When something doesn't feel right, your child feels pressured or they need help speaking up about a boundary. Lucky reminds them that their voice matters — and that they can always tell a trusted grown-up when they're uncomfortable or unsure. Little mental muscle: Healthy boundaries, self-advocacy & personal safety.

This one is for: When “I don't know” starts feeling like “I'm not smart enough.” Lucky helps turn not knowing into curiosity: I can ask. I can wonder. I can learn. Little mental muscle: Curiosity, growth mindset & confidence in learning.

This one is for: When one frustrating, embarrassing or upsetting moment starts following your child through the rest of their day. Lucky helps them recognize: that happened — but I don't have to keep carrying it. Little mental muscle: Emotional recovery, resetting & letting go.

This one is for: When your child could use a reminder that kindness isn't just something we are — it's something we can actively choose through our words and actions, even in very small ways. Little mental muscle: Empathy, intentional choices & social awareness.

This one is for: When your child is looking outside themselves for proof that they're special — comparing, seeking approval or wondering what makes them matter. Lucky gently brings their attention back inward: who they are is already unfolding. Little mental muscle: Inner confidence, self-worth & identity.
PART THREE - I CAN TRUST
Days 21–30: inner voice, belonging, courage, choices, and trusting yourself.
CLICK - SCROLL - CHOOSE

This one is for: When an unhelpful thought gets stuck on repeat — “I can't,” “Nobody likes me,” “I'm terrible at this.” Lucky helps children understand that having a thought doesn't automatically make it true, and they can practice choosing what they tell themselves next. Little mental muscle: Thought awareness, reframing & self-talk.

This one is for: When your child feels different from other kids, compares what they like or how they do things, or wonders whether they should change themselves to fit in. Lucky reminds them that different doesn't mean wrong. Little mental muscle: Individuality, self-acceptance & confidence. Because if every dog wanted the exact same stick... CHAOS. 😂🐶 ________________________________________

This one is for: Those moments when feelings and bodies move faster than thinking — frustration, excitement, anger, grabbing, yelling, reacting... or apparently spotting a squirrel. 😂 Lucky introduces one powerful little space between feeling and action: the pause. Little mental muscle: Impulse control, emotional regulation & intentional choice.

This one is for: When your child wants to try something but nervousness is tagging along — a new activity, food, class, friendship, sport or experience. Lucky reminds them they don't have to wait until they're completely fearless. They can be nervous and curious at the same time. Little mental muscle: Courage, adaptability & confidence through experience.

This one is for: When your child feels left out, different, lonely or as though they need to become someone else to be accepted. Lucky reminds them that belonging shouldn't require giving up who they are. Little mental muscle: Belonging, self-worth & authentic connection.

This one is for: When your child isn't sure about something, has a little “hmmm...” feeling inside, or is learning to recognize what feels comfortable, uncomfortable, right or not quite right. Lucky encourages them to slow down, listen inward and talk with someone they trust when they're unsure. Little mental muscle: Self-awareness, intuition & trusted decision-making.

This one is for: When your child needs a reminder that they have the ability to affect the world around them in positive ways. A smile, including someone, helping, sharing or saying something kind can seem tiny, and still matter enormously. Little mental muscle: Empathy, connection & awareness of personal impact. Warning: Lucky may believe slobbery kisses count. 😂🐶

This one is for: After one of those days, mistakes happened, feelings exploded, something went wrong or your child simply wasn't their best self. Lucky helps separate “I had a hard day” from “there's something wrong with me.” Little mental muscle: Perspective, self-compassion & emotional recovery. A hard day is one piece of the story. It isn't the whole story. ❤️

This one is for: When your child is so focused on what they still can't do that they forget everything they've already learned. Lucky encourages them to look backward for a moment and notice their effort, progress and all those little steps. Little mental muscle: Self-reflection, confidence & recognizing progress.

This one is for: Anytime your child needs the bigger reminder that growing isn't about becoming perfect, or becoming like somebody else. They're learning, changing, discovering, making mistakes, finding courage and becoming more themselves along the way. Little mental muscle: Self-trust, identity & confidence in growth. There isn't a finish line for becoming you. You get to keep discovering. ❤️
